Front/Back: From Statement to Conversation
This is a shift in perspective.
This is an invitation to recalibrate and look between the words and behind the lines of the script. By looking in between, there lies inevitably a comment on the act of looking. By choosing to focus on the space that exists in between spaces, there is inevitably an inquiry on the nature of these spaces.
As with the drawing of a symbolic section that can become the expression of the values of a time long past, so can an important passage become an afterthought, bound between different worlds and experienced in different velocities, a drop in a massive pool of references and influences, a not-so-important cog in the machine heart of a contemporary metropolis.
This city, built by brick and mortar and stone and metal and pain, a living organism with pipes and wires acting as blood vessels keeping it alive, is laying hidden between the symbols that represent it. The guts of this behemoth are now laid open for all to see. For what more can the remains of a past civilization offer to man, that the veins of the sleeping giant cannot?
Take your time to rest. Take your time to experience this world of images and feelings and sounds unlike what you were aiming to find, unlike what you expected to encounter while riding this train. The car, the train, the pedestrian, all running around trying to get to where the promise of another life can get them. But life has been here all along. There is no need to run anymore.
Break through the facade, enter the void of the context. What was once buried can now become visible, what was once in the back of the mind like an afterthought is now allowed to be in the forefront of the optical vortex, whether that is your choice or not. This ride does not end here, but this stop is deemed necessary in order for the journey to go on.
