Preserved light
In the past renowned but in the present forgotten. What once was designed in great detail is now dilapidated. The passage lacks sufficient light that emphasizes an atmosphere of neglect.
This project proposes an alternative approach to renovation by introducing an urban installation that consolidates and acts as an anchor within the existing space. Engaging with the built environment through transparent, see-through structures that manipulate natural and artificial light. Creating dynamic interactions with the surroundings, transforming the experience of the passage throughout the day.
The design is shaped by the act of creating a present layer on top of the past, a spatial strategy that introduces multiple physical and perceptual layers of time. These layers are not only tangible through the materials used but also emerge in the way light filters, refracts, and reflects, subtly transforming the atmosphere over time.
By layering elements of space, time, and light. The result is an environment that is not only physically integrated into the existing context but also transformative, inviting new forms of engagement and perception as time passes.
