Marnick Beerts ‘(inter)face/here’

Humanity has found the key to terraforming planets. Unfortunately, at the cost of their own. Every lump of earth drained, every source depleted. A blanket of emptiness keeps the depreciated warm. The skyline is made of unwieldy monuments, remnants of a quest for a better world.

More.
More.
More.
The echo is still to be heard.

(inter)face/fere is a visual investigation into the fierce landscapes that come into existence when a purely functional landscape is no longer valuable. What remains is a desolate, empty shell of what once was a driving force in the quest for a better world. As a sacrifice to this search for wealth humankind has rendered these landscapes incompatible with the human scale.
The situational site holds a collection of the inaccessible. Creations formerly hidden in plain sight.
Here, scales collide. A new spatial object, the interface, is born. Existing in-between the monumental remnants of a industrialized society.Serving only the curiosity of the occasional spectator.
