Starting from the photography of Paul Virilio and a fascination for the underground structures and interiors of bunkers, the situational site was born. It is an exploration of what inversion could mean and how spaces can emerge from it. The observation tower becomes open to the public. Transversing upwards they reach a lookout point, returning the tower to its original function. Transversing down through the thickness of the walls they reach a lower level which allows a view into the interior of the bunker. Wall becomes path, path becomes wall. The structure of the bunker is investigated through drawing and redrawing, and possible entrances are explored. The project aims to redefine these abandoned structures and imagine a new life for them.
