Slavica Zlatkovska: Differe(a)nt realities

No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man. Heraclitus.
Chicago, the city of many realities; the loop, a divided reality and the gap. Goose Island – paradox in the city now transformed into a differe(a)nt reality. A metamorphosis to a city garden island that opposes the grid linearity of the city with a complex dynamic motion enabling infinite possibilities. The complex dynamic motion is the product of a powerful geometry – the circle. The grid creates order and the circle creates chaos; therefore, they are strongly interconnected and make a complex, yet stable system. The complex dynamic motion creates the system of spaces, which creates different spatial qualities. The system of spaces constructs different possibilities, which creates differe(a)nt realities. The atmosphere is the poetics of space. Four gardens, four realities but infinite possible interpretations since perception is individual. Four different atmospheres that narrate differe(a)nt realities: the rough beauty, the sensual touch, the sound of space, and the temperature of space. Differe(a)nt realities is and will always be a dual interpretation of space since the same space cannot be experienced the same way twice.
