Expo '(Con)Temporary Town Hall' Atlas of Proposals

In het onderwijslab Atlas of Proposals werkt Gijs Van Vaerenbergh, artists-in-residence in BAC ART LAB (KU Leuven), met een twintigtal architectuurstudenten rond een actueel thema. Dit academiejaar ligt de focus op het stadhuis van Leuven die een grondige renovatie ondergaat en daarom tijdelijk zijn deuren sluit. De studio onderzoekt enerzijds of het stadhuis gedurende de sluiting elders in de stad een plek kan krijgen in de vorm van een tijdelijk paviljoen. Anderzijds worden een aantal denkbeeldige scenario’s uitgewerkt die de stellingen van het stadhuis gebruiken om het gebouw op een unieke manier toegankelijk te maken tijdens de renovatiewerken.

De tentoonstelling lopen van 29 juni tot 8 september 2024, elke zaterdag van 14h tot 18h in het stadhuis van Leuven.

De opening zal plaatsvinden op dinsdag 25 juni 2024 met als programma:

19u30: welkomstwoord
20u: receptie en vrij bezoek tentoonstelling

In the Atlas of Proposals education lab, Gijs Van Vaerenbergh, artists-in-residence at BAC ART LAB (KU Leuven), works with about twenty architecture students on a current theme. This academic year the focus is on the Leuven town hall, which is undergoing a thorough renovation and is therefore temporarily closing its doors. On the one hand, the studio is investigating whether the town hall can be relocated elsewhere in the city during the closure in the form of a temporary pavilion. On the other hand, a number of imaginary scenarios are developed that use the scaffolding of the town hall to make the building accessible in a unique way during the renovation works.

The exhibition runs from June 29 to September 8, 2024, every Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m in the Town Hall of Leuven.

The opening will take place on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 with the following programme:
7 pm: reception on the 2nd floor of City Hall
7:30 pm: welcome speech
8 pm: reception and free visit to the exhibition
