Renato Nicolodi (1980) studied painting at the Sint-Lukas Hogeschool in Brussels, but the focus of his oeuvre soon shifted to sculptures in concrete, wood and brass, which invite reflection with a central, black void. With an archetypal, architectural imagery, they focus on memories – those that we share collectively, or that are personal because of a past with family and loved ones. Corridors and stairs are the Leitmotiv for contemplation, as mental beacons for a life in an evolving society.
