From 22 to 29 May, EXPO [Marais] Biestebroeck, held at Brasserie Atlas, presented research, student projects, and artistic explorations developed over the past two years in and around the Biestebroeck Swamp in Anderlecht, Brussels.
Curated by researcher Dries Pattyn on behalf of the Alliance Marais Biestebroeck, the exhibition is part of the research project ‘The Socio-ecological Turn in Urbanism‘ and focused on the uncertain future of this urban wetland, showcasing work from ULB, KU Leuven, TU Darmstadt, Polimi, HE Ferrer, and HELdB. Theire contributions proposed more socially and ecologically grounded alternatives to the planned real estate development that currently threatens the site.
