Description/Inhoud:
Pavilions, temporary premised, in fact often permanent,

reusable from the start, circular, polyvalent too.

Part 1: analysis of 3 pavilions – meticulously mapping :
in building elements – scale 1:1
in isometric projections / a perspective – size A2
in an abstract model – size A2
– how are they constructed & composed,
– which predetermined programs,
– how can they be (re)used,
– which atmosphere.

Part 2: design of a new pavilion, based on the outcome of your analysis

– a pavilion is often detached, ìn this design it will be grafted, the site will be given after part 1

– the scale of the pavilion is at least a house large.

Line of inquiry/Onderzoekslijn:
Material Reality / For Real / Practice as Study / Working With

Topic, Thematic Focus/Thema:
spatiality, structure, materialization

Key Questions or Provocation/ Centrale vragen en provocaties:
• What do we build (pavilion) for ?
• How are pavilions conceived ?
• Why specific use of materials?

Methodologies or Formats / Methodologie:
Research, drawing on a continuous paper roll, prototyping, site visit & fieldwork, reviews

Design / Expected Outcome(s) / Ontwerp / Verwachte Resultaten:
Research based exercise on design strategies for temporary structures

(also on detail & material level)

Deliverables / In te dienen documenten:
A model, a perspective and a detail,

for part 1 as well as for part 2
