‘Spaces for economy in the city’ is a three year studio working on the research, design and documentation of architecture for the economy. The economy can generate new spaces that can be equally resilient and sustainable. The economy can be a driving force to steer cities away from the path of gentrification and segregation. Yet, not enough attention in education is paid to this powerful motor of architectural production. The general objective of the studio is to explore the relationship between the autonomy of built form and the influence this built form has on the city and its inhabitants.

The debate will start from the intensive work produced by the students of the studio. Their resulting documents give an overall understanding of the built form an will allow us to discuss its influence on the city. The debate aims surpass the boundaries of the studio and to reach and arouse a broader audience.
