In this intensive 4 day-workshop, we conduct research design on the importance of classroom interiors, starting both from a personal experience & research design perspective – the design of a classroom is more than a functional issue.
The focus is on the classroom and its (frictional/harmonious) relation between ‘software’ (immaterial, performative aspects such as use, organisation,…) and ‘hardware’ such as the schoolgate; the fence surrounding the school; the corridor; the furniture; the outside window; the authority (teachers/board,…);
The design of a classroom is more than a functional issue and entails both material and immaterial aspects. The assignment is to sort out the different layers in the making of a model that represents the classroom as an inhabited world on its own.
