Kate Davies and Emmanuel Vercruysse are Directors of the Design + Make Masters Programme at the Architectural Association’s (AA) forest campus, Hooke Park, UK.
They will be presenting and discussing the experimental timber work being undertaken by students at Hooke Park.

The AA’s Hooke Park Campus is a landscape-scale laboratory for interdisciplinary teaching and research in relation to planetary boundaries. The Design + Make Master’s
programme lies at the heart of Hooke Park’s architectural experimentation, linking forestry and timber construction through hands-on, 1:1 design and fabrication. Blending digital design with traditional craft, it transforms the working forest into a site of material exploration and innovation.

Inspired by the possibilities of alternate narratives, Hooke Park is a space for prototyping futures, fearless experimentation, and direct engagement—where physical and speculative work collide. The 350-acre working woodland at Hooke Park is owned and managed by the AA and provides the primary source of timber for student design-build projects, which are fabricated on-site in the campus workshops and assembly spaces. The AA has a commitment to the future ecological health of the Hooke Park Woodland and are developing a 100-year strategy for its management as part of an innovative forest research programme.
