Opening So’ham 4/11

“So’ham” is the result of conversations and encounters between architect Sam Dieltjens and artist Samuel Vanderveken over a period of almost two years. As part of Dieltjens’ PhD research, they visited each other, visited buildings and exhibitions and had philosophical discussions along the way which continued using online channels.

The conversations started from the question of what architecture means to the artist, which in Vanderveken’s case is a space for solitude and contemplation. A space with a minimum of distractions where anything is possible. “So’ham” offers to the individual visitor such a space. A space for silence, solitude, peace and standstill. A space free of external impulses to come closer to yourself. A space for contemplation, but also for wonder and imagination. Visitors are asked to take off their shoes, leave or turn off all electronic devices, and feel free.
