Sofa Talk ‘Gender & Housing’ by Angela.D 04/03

Next Wednesday, for our first talk on the sofa, we welcome Angela.D, a Brussels-based multidisciplinary collective working at the intersection of housing, gender, and social justice. Founded in 2018, the non-profit brings together activists, urban planners, architects, and sociologists to challenge housing as a primary marker of gender inequality.

Named in honor of activist Angela Davis, the collective addresses a structural problem : access to housing is deeply hierarchical. In the Brussels Region, women particularly single parents, isolated seniors, non cisgenders and racialized individuals are disproportionately affected by the housing crisis. From the gender pay gap to discriminatory lending practices by banks, Angela.D exposes the systemic obstacles that hinder autonomy.

Through their work, architecture and urbanism move beyond to become tools for advocacy.

Everyone is welcome to join!
