Louise Nys’s graduation project was selected for the exhibition “WE ARE THE NEXT GENERATION.” This exhibition forms the heart of the WONDER Creativity Festival at the Budafabriek in Kortrijk and runs from October 16 to November 2, 2025.
Louise graduated with her project “Architecture in Transformation: Deconstruction and Reconstruction as a Strategy for Memory” in the studio “The Double Look” (adviser Thierry Lagrange, co-adviser Dimitri Vangrunderbeek).
“The Henri Tudor site in Florival, an abandoned industrial site, forms the research area for this master’s thesis. An alternative design approach is developed based on a confrontation between deconstructionist principles and the need for heritage preservation. Three themes—decay, architectural wandering, and decontextualization—guide the research and lead to a multi-layered spatial intervention. The master’s thesis proposes a new form of conservation: not through stagnation, but through architectural transformation. In this way, the past is not frozen, but reactivated—as memory, as rhythm, as space.“
From 228 submissions, 37 projects were selected by an external jury. They assessed their social relevance, innovative strength, sustainability, exhibitability, and quality within the context of the exhibition. More information about the exhibition: wonder-festival.be.
