Irene Feria Prados is next guest in the sofa-talk series on architecture and activism. Irene Feria Prados is engaged in bringing intersectional feminism, queer and decolonial theories to architectural design and academic practices. She’s currently teaching the master’s studio ‘A House is not a Home (for all)’ focusing on alternative domestic spaces to the nuclear family house, drawing on queerfeminist activism. An ongoing project is ‘Mapping Sevilla Negra’ about the invisible remains of slavery in Spain today, and how architecture could help to make these visible. The film ‘Architectures of Everyday Activism’ (2022) deals with the occupation of Lützerath, the German village threatened by the ever-expanding coal mining activities, and the use of architecture in the embodied action.
Date: Thursday 31 October 2024, 6pm
Venue: the bar of Meurop, Paleizenstraat 65
