‘Designing for a world in transition. About hands-on practice studios in architectural education’ (Authors: Catherine Mengé and Laurens Bekemans)
For two years, about 100 students of the faculty worked in the hands-on studios ‘On circular materials and processes’ where they did research on building with waste from earth and raw materials. Projects were designed and actually built with self-made experimental circular material. This publication talks about these manufacturing studios and shows in an inspiring way how future architects learn to design in a climate-friendly way according to the principles of circular construction. Students who participated in this studio testify that ‘green architecture’ … ‘doesn’t seem as far off as is often thought’.
