Liese-Lore Avermaete and Ekin Başkentli are winners of the Van Hove Prize 2022

On November 23, 2022, the Professional Union of Architects distributed the prizes to the winners of the successful Van Hove Prize.
This prize rewards ambitious graduation projects by students from Belgian architecture programmes.

Exceptionally four winners were chosen during the proclamation in the Architect’s House. Two of them are students from the Faculty of Architecture: Liese-Lore Avermaete with ‘Tussen de soep en de pattatten’ (supervisors Carl Bourgeois/Hugo Vanneste) and Ekin Başkentli with ‘Mending Wall’ (supervisor Tomas Ooms).

KU Leuven students who were also nominated: Hanieh Mahpeykar with ‘LandBouwBelang’ Maastricht Evoked as Caravanserai’ (Faculty of Architecture, supervisor Marc Dujardin), Aline Lenaerts and Theresa Martens with ‘CPR’ (Faculty of Engineering Science, supervisor Geert De Neuter), Lode Vanderbeek with ‘Learning from Vernacular Urbanism – Informality in the Cairo Transect’ (Faculty of Engineering Science, supervisors Kelly Shannon and Bruno De Meulder).

The exhibition of the 12 nominated projects will be accessible from November 24 at the Architect’s House in Brussels, from 9 am to 12 pm and from 1 pm to 4 pm. Soon more info at https://upa-bua-arch.be/en/activities/prix-van-hove
