We are all aware of this truth\u00a0but at the same time there are typical problems that we need to be aware of and that we may not ignore. Often Flemish volunteers or interns are confronted with pecularities of the host country that are difficult to understand or deal with. Their expectations, which are frequently driven by their enthusiasm to help and to convey knowledge and competences, do not correspond to the expectations of the local target group. Intercultural communications fails and there are misunderstandings. How can we deal with such problems to overcome these problems and reach synergy through diversity?
