{"id":6923,"date":"2025-12-07T13:52:14","date_gmt":"2025-12-07T13:52:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.blog-archkuleuven.be\/architecture\/?p=6923"},"modified":"2025-12-16T14:28:02","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T14:28:02","slug":"studio-expo-reverse-perspective-12-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.blog-archkuleuven.be\/architecture\/2025\/12\/07\/studio-expo-reverse-perspective-12-12\/","title":{"rendered":"Studio expo: Reverse Perspective 12\/12"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Exhibition on the elective, sem 1, Ghent<\/p>\n<p>ARCHITECTURE &amp; ART<br \/>\nREVERSE PERSPECTIVE<br \/>\nHISTORY\/THEORY\/CRITICISM<\/p>\n<p>Architecture &amp; Art &#8211; Reverse Perspective, is a joint research and teaching initiative by Dr. Philosopher Volkmar M\u00fchleis and Wim Goes exploring alternative ways to evoke depth in Art and Architecture.<br \/>\nSince the Renaissance, Western spatial representation has been dominated by the rules of linear perspective, a system where space is fixes, depth is calculated and interrelations are pre-defined.<br \/>\nThis linear perspective is challenged by introducing Reverse Perespective, historically present in Byzantine iconography, Cubism, and contemporary art. (e.g. David Hockney, Henri Matisse, etc.)<br \/>\nIn Reverse Perspective, interaction, time, and movement are invited in: emphasizing the viewer\u2019s active role in shaping spatial perception, both mentally and bodily.<br \/>\nThis interdisciplinary elective is open to master&#8217;s students in both architecture and art. (LUCA School of Arts and KU Leuven, Campus Sint-Lucas)<br \/>\nThe elective combines theoretical investigation with a practical excercise.<br \/>\nStudents engage in a personal project within a chosen medium, supported by critical reflection, group discussions, and insights from guest lecturers.
