{"id":6731,"date":"2025-09-09T18:05:16","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T18:05:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.blog-archkuleuven.be\/architecture\/?p=6731"},"modified":"2026-05-06T09:13:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T09:13:07","slug":"masterproef-van-louise-nys-geselecteerd-voor-we-are-the-next-generation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.blog-archkuleuven.be\/architecture\/2025\/09\/09\/masterproef-van-louise-nys-geselecteerd-voor-we-are-the-next-generation\/","title":{"rendered":"Louise Nys&#8217; master&#8217;s thesis selected for We Are The Next Generation."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\" xml:lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><strong>Louise Nys<\/strong>&#8217;s graduation project was selected for the exhibition &#8220;WE ARE THE NEXT GENERATION.&#8221;<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">This exhibition forms the heart of the WONDER Creativity Festival at the Budafabriek in Kortrijk and runs from October 16 to November 2, 2025.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\" xml:lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Louise graduated with her project &#8220;<strong>Architecture in Transformation: Deconstruction and Reconstruction as a Strategy for Memory<\/strong>&#8221; in the studio &#8220;The Double Look&#8221; (adviser Thierry Lagrange, co-adviser Dimitri Vangrunderbeek).<\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\" xml:lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">&#8220;<em>The Henri Tudor site in Florival, an abandoned industrial site, forms the research area for this master&#8217;s thesis. An alternative design approach is developed based on a confrontation between deconstructionist principles and the need for heritage preservation. Three themes\u2014decay, architectural wandering, and decontextualization\u2014guide the research and lead to a multi-layered spatial intervention. The master&#8217;s thesis proposes a new form of conservation: not through stagnation, but through architectural transformation.
