Annekatrien Verdickt is our next guest in the sofa-talk series. She is co-founder of Architectuurplatform Terwecoren Verdickt, designer of the prizewinning Bouwmaterialendorp in Brussels, and other projects. She is also the driving force behind citizen movement Filter Café Filtré, dedicated to clean air in Brussels, around primary schools in the first place. The protest actions at school gates laid the foundation for OpenStreets, an initiative of instant urbanism that repurposes the street as place for cultural exchange and collective dream labor. We are eager to know from Annekatrien Verdickt how the design practice relates to the activist work, or not. And, how she considers the double role of architect and citizen in the light of the climate challenge today.
