Finissage expo NDUNGU MAKARA + lectures by Prof. Wannes HUBAU (UGent) and Dr. Bart CREZEE (Univ. Leeds) 13/10

The exhibition NDUNGU MAKARA – CHILDREN OF THE IYONDA LEPROSY VILLAGE IN DR CONGO runs from 19 September till 14 October, 2022
KU Leuven, Sint-Lucas Ghent Campus, Hoogstraat 51, 9000 Ghent.
Opening hours: working days, 8.30 AM – 5 PM

The expo finissage will take place on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 6 pm.

INTERDISCIPLINARY EXHIBIT CONTRIBUTION & LECTURES:

Our previous exhibit in Louvain (March to June 2022) ended with the hypothetical question “Where do we go from here”. The Iyonda people as gardians of the Central Congo Peatlands.
Very recently we connected with an international team of Scientists mapping and researching the Congo Bassin Peatlands of which Iyonda forms an integral part.

The ‘CongoPeat’ project is led by prof. Simon Lewis (University College London and University of Leeds), Drs. Bart Crezee (University of Leeds) in collaboration with prof. Wannes Hibau (UGent).
Their contribution to the exhibit will be centrally presented opposing the large tomographic scale model of a typical colony street of Iyonda.
