Architecture as Theme : a Daylight Talk with Floris De Bruyn 22/03

On 22 March at 18:00 (CET), you are cordially invited to attend, ‘Architecture as Theme, the second episode in the 2022 ‘Daylight Talks’ series, featuring practicing architect Floris De Bruyn, co-founder of GAFPA, based in Ghent, Belgium, and Professor at the KU Leuven Faculty of Architecture.

Organised by the VELUX Group in collaboration with individual schools of architecture and endorsed by the UIA and the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE), the Talks explore the significance of natural light in architecture and will present prominent architects and educators working consciously and qualitatively with daylight in their projects and educational programmes.

Hosted by UCLouvain and presented by Sergio Altomonte, Head of the Leuven Research Institute for Landscape, Architecture, Built environment (LAB), this second Daylight Talk will focus on GAFPA’s approach to daylight and the firm’s educational and cultural projects. Co-founded by De Bruyn with Philippe De Berlangeer and Frederick Verschueren, the firm specialises in residential as well as institutional architecture, urban design operations and scenography.

In addition to practicing and teaching architecture, Floris De Bruyn currently supervises the architecture studio, “Primary Structure”, in the Masters programme for Advanced Architectural Design at UCLouvain. He regularly serves on the jurys for architecture competitions and mentors young architects and students.

The event will last 45 minutes, followed by an open 30 minutes of Q&A session. Participation at the event is free.
