Johannes Berry awarded the UIC Douglas Garafalo fellowship 2019-20

We’re very proud to announce that teacher Johannes Berry and alumnus of the international Master of Architecture in the Faculty of Architecture, has been awarded the UIC Douglas Garafalo Fellowship 2019-20.

Named in honor of award-winning architect and educator Doug Garofalo (1958–2011), the Douglas A. Garofalo Fellowship is an annual nine-month teaching fellowship awarded by the School of Architecture UIC Chicago, that provides an emerging designer the opportunity to teach studio and seminar courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs and conduct independent design research. During its second semester, the fellowship includes a public lecture at the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in Fine Arts and an exhibition, typically held at the school.

Johannes Berry’ s research will focus on the relationship between humans, materials, and construction, with an aim toward finding combinations that allow openness in interpretation.

Although we will miss Johannes Berry next academic year, it is our intention to follow him throughout his yearlong stay in Chicago, reporting on a regular base about his fellow proceedings.

Once again our congratulations to Johannes Berry, wishing him all the success.
