NL: Interieurarchitect Nina Mathieu ontwikkelde in het academiejaar 2016 – 2017 binnen haar masterproject ‘De vertelkracht van schaduw’ het gordijn Wabi.
Wabi is een textielscherm dat, door middel van gewichten en trekkers, verschillende vormen aanneemt en waardoor invallend licht schaduwtekeningen maakt. Met de sturing van de gebruiker en omgevingselementen zoals licht en wind brengt Wabi een bijdrage aan de gewenste atmosfeer. Het gebruik kan zich in de zomer naar buiten verplaatsen. Schaduw bakent een ruimte af zonder materieel te zijn. Met haar werk wil Nina Mathieu een herwaardering voor schaduw in de ruimte aanmoedigen.

EN: During the 2016 – 2017 academic year, Nina Mathieu developed a Wabi curtain within her master project “The narrative power of shadow”.
Wabi is a textile screen that, by means of weights and tractors, takes different forms and through which incident light can make shadow drawings. With the control of the user and environmental elements such as light and wind, Wabi contributes to the desired atmosphere. The installation can move outside in the summer. Shadow defines a space without being material. With her work, Nina Mathieu wants to encourage a revaluation of shadow in space.
